In October 2018, Advanced Recovery Systems announced a partnership with Cooper University Health Care to build a new state-of-the-art, 90-bed inpatient treatment facility in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. This facility, The Recovery Village Cherry Hill at Cooper, now delivers compassionate, evidence-backed care for substance use disorders and co-occuring mental health conditions.

Responsibilities

The Navigator Specialist within the Center for Healing provides ongoing supportive services to patients with substance use disorders. This position will provide education, service coordination, service linkage, and support to patients within the healthcare, social service, and justice systems.

 

CORE JOB DUTIES:

  1. Ensure clients are being communicated with in a timely manner – in accordance with recovery plan.
  2. Responsible for acting as agency liaison to recovery programs inside the facility.
  3. Conduct telephone conversations in a friendly and professional manner.
  4. Maintain clear communication with supervisors and co-workers.
  5. Provide education, service coordination, service linkage, and support to patients within healthcare, social service, and justice systems. 
  6. Provide ongoing care-coordination and case management services.
  7. Guide linkage to appropriate clinical services including medication-assisted treatment (MAT), behavioral health treatment, and social services to individuals with Substance Use Disorder. 
  8. Provide education, coordination, navigation, linkages, and support to individuals with Substance Use Disorder.
  9. Foster one-on-one supportive relationships built on trust and respect and encourage engagement and retention in treatment in order for patient to reach and maintain optimal outcome.
  10. Provide continuity of care by meeting patients in various clinical care settings including the following:
  • Emergency department visits, addiction treatment appointments, medical appointments, social service appointments, and therapeutic appointments. 
  • Identify health and wellness needs, barriers and strengths including physical health, medical and addiction treatment, social support, occupational and intellectual strengths and goals, financial and housing, etc.
  • Perform outreach by meeting with patients in the community and act as allies and advocates for patient services
  • Attend Addiction Medicine clinical and programmatic conferences and meetings as required. 

 

Qualifications

Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Credentials:

  • Peer Support state certification in practicing state(s) New Jersey, preferred.

 

 

Experience:

  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience required with a Bachelor’s degree in a related field; 2 years required with an Associate’s degree or Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS) credential.
  • 4 years of relevant clinical or lived experience may be accepted in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree, Associate’s degree, or related certification.
  • Lived experience navigating hospital systems strongly preferred.
  • Bilingual proficiency preferred.
